About CAS
CAS, founded in 2013,started as a small art club in Ealing Broadway, teaching drawing and painting to young people. Since then, we have been proud to work with many primary schools, families, and community organisations across West London, making high-quality art education accessible to children and young people.
In 2026, we reached an exciting new milestone with the opening of Studio 22 at West London Art Factory in Park Royal where we offer specialist adult courses in traditional decorative arts, including imitation marble, stone finishes, oil painting, gilding, botanical flowers, wood grain and other classical techniques.
At CAS, our mission is to inspire creativity, develop artistic skills, and share the knowledge of both traditional and contemporary art in a welcoming, supportive environment for people of all ages.
Meet the team
Nada Alobaidi - Tutor
Nada Alobaidi is an artist and architectural designer based in West London. She studied Art & Design and Graphic Design at West London College before completing a Master of Architecture (RIBA Part II) at Kingston University. Her academic and professional experience has provided her with a strong foundation in both traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. Since 2015, Nada has been teaching art to both children and adults art, working in partnership with local schools and the Universities.
Alongside her teaching, Nada works as a freelance architectural designer and specialist painter and decorator, with experience in the conservation and restoration of historic buildings. Her work combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, specialising in heritage restoration, decorative finishes, and architectural interior detailing.
Richard McPherson - Tutor
Rick is a UK-based decorative artist and Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers, specialising in traditional materials and techniques — though he's equally at home with modern materials when the job calls for it.
He trained at Barking and Dagenham College from 2008, studying under the last of the old guard of decorative artists. Graining, marbling, stencilling, sign writing, gilding, ornament, and the theory and science of the painter's craft were all subjects he took a particular interest in.
Since graduating in 2012, Rick has gone on to work on many of London's most famous landmarks as well as numerous private residences, refining his skills and techniques over the past 14 years.
Away from work, Rick spends much of his time in his studio, creating samples and following old recipes for paints and mediums. He has also built up a large collection of antique tools, rare books, and folios relating to painting and decorating. Rick regularly gives talks and demonstrations at events, hoping to raise awareness of the painter's craft and inspire the next generation of decorators.

Maya Stanton-Miller - Assistant
Maya is a dedicated childcare professional who currently works as a nanny while studying Nursing. She is passionate about supporting and caring for others and brings a warm, patient, and friendly approach to every class.
At CAS, Maya assists children during sessions by preparing art materials, providing guidance, and offering support whenever it is needed. She particularly enjoys building positive relationships with the children, encouraging their confidence, and learning about their individual interests and experiences.
Her studies in Health and Social Care have helped her develop excellent communication skills, empathy, and attention to detail. These qualities enable her to create a welcoming and supportive environment where children feel comfortable, valued, and inspired to express their creativity. Maya is committed to helping others while continuing to develop her knowledge and professional skills.
Zara Ali - Assistant
Zara is an CAS, where she supports the teacher by preparing materials, assisting children with their creative projects, and helping to create a fun, welcoming, and inspiring learning environment. She particularly enjoys interacting with the children and watching their ideas develop into finished artworks.
Currently studying for her A-levels, Zara has a keen interest in the arts and enjoys cooking and baking, playing the piano, and travelling to discover new cultures and experiences.
Through her A-level studies, piano training, and participation in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Zara has developed strong problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience skills. These qualities enable her to support students with patience and enthusiasm, encouraging them to build confidence, develop their creativity, and enjoy the artistic process.
Craig Batterham - Assistant
Craig is responsible for health and safety at the club and is fully trained in first aid, helping to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants. He previously taught at Bournemouth and Poole College, where he gained extensive experience working with students and supporting their learning and development. In addition to his coaching background, Craig is a professional photographer with many years of experience in both digital and traditional film photography. His expertise and passion for the field enable him to share valuable technical skills,
